This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Industrial Operations, at Letterkenny Army Depot, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Responsibilities Perform repairs on missile systems, electronics systems and chassis using test and console equipment/tools Develop new test procedures to solve complex maintenance and repair problems on missile systems, Consult with lower graded technicians and site personnel to localize and identify system component failures. Determine if test equipment and procedures provide accurate information and follow testing requirements. Apply new test procedures to the day-to-day work of aligning, calibrating, and/or repairing electronic assemblies and major components Operate specialized test equipment to isolate problems and determine scope of repair required. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This is an upward mobility position and may be filled at the WG 10,11 or 12 level. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications WG 10: (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic duties of repairing operating problems on electronic systems. I can operate test equipment and read blueprints. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Minimum Qualifications WG 11: Ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic duties of repairing missile and electronic systems. I can operate and maintain specialized test equipment, read blueprints, and use principles of electronic theory. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Minimum Qualifications WG 12: Ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic duties such as test equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of missile and electronic systems. I can read blueprints, perform duties involving electronics theory and principles, use hand and power tools, and computer-aided programs to identify failures. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT Requires moderate physical effort to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds. Required to stoop, bend, and stand for prolonged periods and some assignments require climbing 20-to-50 foot heights. WORKING CONDITIONS Works in well lighted heated and ventilated shop areas or at missile site and is occasionally subject to inclement weather. Subject to cuts, bruises, burns and shock caused by high voltage energy and soldering irons. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
